Responsibilities

This is a Part time position. Working 20 hours per week.

- Provide direct psychological counseling services to students, including crisis management;

- Develop community-level programming in order to foster University-wide mental wellness and education that supports the aims, objectives, and missions of the Counseling Center and the University;

- Collaborate with the Director and other Counseling Center staff in operation of the department.


Minimum Qualifications

- Master's degree in Counseling, or Social Work, or doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.)

- Licensed or license-eligible (within 12 months of appointment) in Virginia is required.

- Knowledge of university counseling center operations.

- Knowledge of college student development and counseling of college students.

- Ability to think symbolically and analytically about a variety of human behaviors and experiences.

Job Duties

Percent of total time 50

Responsibility / Duty

Conduct psychological evaluations/intakes and provide short-term therapy in individual and group settings for Marymount students.

Percent of total time 15

Responsibility / Duty

Maintain clinical records and necessary statistics of psychotherapeutic and other client contacts in Titanium Electronic Record System, in accordance with ethical standards and guidelines.

Responsibility / Duty

Supervise and participate in training experiences for masters and doctoral level graduate trainees. Provide case management and consultation to trainees, as assigned. Provide crisis management, supervision to trainees, as requested.

Responsibility / Duty

Manage outreach requests and scheduling and development of new outreach activities. Conduct outreach and psychoeducational programming, including orientation sessions for new students and parents, classroom presentations, and mental health events (i.e. national depression screening day) to the campus community. Participate in Student Development department and other university committees, as assigned by the Director.

Responsibility / Duty

Provide crisis management, triage, daytime walk-in emergency service, and assume after-hours on-call responsibilities for daytime and evening emergency psychological services.

Responsibility / Duty

Consult with parents, physicians, faculty, academic deans, residence life staff, off-campus counseling services, other campus offices and students in order to provide quality care to students. Consult with psychiatrists in conjunction with prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medication for psychotherapy clients.

Responsibility / Duty

Provide mental health and risk management training to University staff, including campus safety, residence life staff, orientation staff, and other University faculty/staff as appropriate.
