Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Development will report to the Director of Medical Education and Alumni Development as a key member of the Medical Education team at the Medical Foundation of NC, Inc. working to expand the successful Medical Education fundraising program, a top priority for the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Health Care in the University-wide campaign. The Assistant Director of Development will maintain an active pipeline of qualified alumni prospects at the major gift level of $50k and more; he/she will dedicate his/her time to the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts, planned gifts and leadership annual gifts, with emphasis on the Medical Alumni Loyalty Fund, UNC School of Medicine class reunion campaigns, young alumni and student philanthropy. Assistant Director of Development will meet with UNC School of Medicine Office of Medical Education leadership to identify priority programs to develop, support, and prospect for gifts for the programs with a particular emphasis on leadership annual gifts to the Medical Alumni Loyalty Fund and scholarships; Prepare and present reports on the status of the fundraising effort toward the annual goals; Collaborate with the Director of Medical Education and Alumni Development in the design and implementation of fundraising strategies to include alumni, parent and student solicitations, leadership annual giving programs, volunteer management, direct mail (renewal and acquisition), and other specially designed printed materials, Phonathons, peer-to-peer solicitations, online giving, data analysis and other elements necessary for a comprehensive fund raising program. Local, regional and national travel, and some weekend work are required.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree; Advanced degree preferred.
Qualification and Experience: REQUIRED: Minimum one year of direct solicitation experience in major gift fundraising, planned giving or closely related fields. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and judgment. Ability to interact effectively in comprehensive environment, such as, a research university setting with donors, faculty, staff and volunteers. Exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by integrity, initiative, collaborative teamwork, critical thinking, accuracy, consistency, timeliness and attention to detail. PREFERRED: Medical school or medical center experience. Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. Experience using wealth screening tools.
