The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate/postdoctoral fellow to work on the crosstalk between the gut microbiota and the central nervous system in the context of depression. Position is in the laboratories of Dr. Alban Gaultier and Dr. Jonathan Kipnis within the center for Brain Immunology and Glia (http://www.medicine.virginia.edu/research/institutes-and-programs/big/welcome-to-big).
Candidates must have a PhD or MD degree in hand by start date, and have a background in Neuroscience and/or Immunology, as well as extensive experience in conducting independent research, and supervising research trainees and/or technicians. In addition, the candidate must have first author publications in peer reviewed scientific journals and effective oral and written communication skills. Candidates with experience in microbiome research and animal models of depression are preferred.
