The University of Virginia Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking a tenure-eligible or tenure-ineligible PhD neuroscientist with experience in neurophysiology, experimental ultrasound, chemical neuromodulation, and other areas in functional neurosciences. This position will conduct basic and translational research in our Focused Ultrasound Center, our neuromodulation lab, and other functional neurosciences areas as we target functional disorders, including movement disorders, epilepsy, pain, spasticity, psychiatric disease and more.
Qualifications include a PhD in neurosciences and a track record for conducting basic and translational research in this field with successful or promising submissions to NIH and other sponsors. A proven history of publication in peer-reviewed neurological journals is required. Previous experience with neuromodulation is required.
Rank, tenure status and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. To be considered for a tenure-eligible position, applicants will need to demonstrate peer-reviewed publications and ultimately a record as principal investigator for extramural grant and clinical trials funding.
