The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to fill a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) Contracts Specialist (Business Services Principal Professional) position.

Job Summary:
Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families. Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

Principal Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed at an advanced or expert level.

Principal Professionals are either work leads over others or are considered a subject matter expert in a particular area.

Position Emphasis:

The major functions of this position are the negotiation, preparation, processing and execution of various contract actions, including but not limited to: non-disclosure agreements, memorandums of understanding, professional service agreements and procurement agreements. This position will serve as the SME and handle all activity for non-research contracts and research awards. This position will provide training and services to other staff within Emergency Medicine, as well as outside departments when needed. Position functions as the liaison to correct and fix contract errors, issues or disagreements and will implement policies and procedures that will prevent future errors/disagreements.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The minimum of the hiring salary has been established at $51,200 is commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • The position requires extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience, including responsibility for direct contract administration and accounting.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not the specific experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with contractual terminology and processes.
  • Experience in preparing detailed budgets.
  • Experience in higher education or a healthcare environment.
