Position Description: The School of Criminal Justice at Texas State University invites applicants for a full-time (nine-month) faculty position at the rank of associate professor or professor, with the possibility of tenure (contingent on approval of the Board of Regents). Responsibilities include high-quality scholarship/research, undergraduate and graduate level teaching (2-2 teaching load), and university, professional, and/or community service. The School of Criminal Justice awards the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degrees. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Women and minorities are especially encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications: Qualified candidates for either rank must have earned a Ph.D. in criminal justice or related field (those who hold the J.D. only will not be considered), provide evidence of strong methodological/analytical skills, and demonstrate a strong record, commensurate with experience, of sustained publication in peer-reviewed journals. In addition to these required qualifications, appointment at the rank of professor requires experience in supervising and mentoring doctoral students.

For appointment as an associate professor or professor, the successful candidate must meet the School and University established standards for persons of the appointed rank.

Preferred Qualifications: For either rank, preference will be given to those candidates who demonstrate experience in seeking and/or securing external grant funding, working with diverse student populations, and the ability to teach in areas that address the needs of the School. For consideration at the rank of associate professor, preference will also be given to those candidates who have experience in supervising and mentoring graduate students.
