MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in biology or other related scientific field.

Experience: Two years of related virology, microbiology or immunology research experience preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General laboratory maintenance including but not limited to: laboratory organization, preparation of solutions, waste processing, ordering/preparation/stocking of consumables and reagents, maintaining accurate inventory of refrigerator and freezer contents.

Attend all required training and comply with all safety and operations procedures.

Confer with Immunology Unit Manager / Principal Investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for experiments; make minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet the needs of the particular study as required.

Manage and complete assigned experiments in accordance with standardized operating procedures and in full compliance with safety protocols.

Prepare specimens for and perform immunological procedures, including but not limited to: PBMC processing, DNA/RNA isolation, flow cytometry, ELISAs, and Luminex assays.

Maintain organized records of lab/experimental notes and data.

Collect and organize raw data into reports for interpretation and analysis.

Perform additional duties as requested by direct supervisor, Immunology Unit Manager, and Scientific/Administrative Directors.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Training:
Work requires a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology or other science related scientific field.

Experience:
None required above education/training requirement.

Must be detail-oriented, well organized with strong communication skills and able to work in a team environment.

The successful applicant must be eligible for and willing to:
  • Complete external certification for independent work at Biological Safety Level 3 (BSL3) and animal BSL3 (ABSL3).
  • Work with animal models of experimental vaccination and viral/bacterial challenge in multiple species including but not limited to mouse, rabbit, and ferret.
  • Work with infectious biological agents (viruses and bacteria) handled at BSL2 and BSL3.
  • Comply with vaccination requirements.
  • Complete Tier 1 Select Agent registration.
