Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Department of Surgery and Division of Cardiac Surgery are seeking applications for a tenure-eligible, full time faculty, cardiac surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Qualified candidates must be a MD or equivalent, board certified or board eligible in Thoracic Surgery, and have completed training in a U.S. fellowship. Clinically, candidates must be competent in a broad array of cardiac surgery including coronary surgery, valve surgery, aortic surgery, and heart failure surgery (LVADs/ transplants). Candidates who have completed additional focused training in catheter based techniques (TAVR, TEVAR) are strongly preferred. Rank is dependent on qualifications.

Candidates may also have an interest in areas of sub-specialization, which could include ECMO, pulmonary embolectomy, and aortic surgery. In addition to their clinical interests, the successful candidate will also need to have a focused interest in translational or clinical research, as well as an interest in teaching our Thoracic residents.

The University of Virginia Health System is a State, Level I Trauma Center and has ACGME accredited General Surgery, Thoracic and Integrated Thoracic Residency programs. UVA is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, with easy access to the Blue Ridge Mountains, the eastern shore and the nation's capital.
