Be part of a dynamic leadership team within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) at the MGH Institute of Health Professions. We are seeking an innovative, visionary individual to lead the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) due to retirement of the current chair.

The department is fully staffed, including both an experienced associate chair and a director of clinical education, and offers an accredited Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a certificate of advanced study in Literacy and Language. The Master's Degree program is one of the top 10 graduate programs in speech-language pathology according to the US News and World Report, and has an excellent reputation for preparing graduates for both medically-based and school-based practice. Faculty are active in research, directing labs that include the Speech and Language Literacy Lab (SAIL), the Speech and Feeding Disorders Lab, and the Brain, Education and Mind Lab (BEAM), among others.

Responsibilities. The Chair of the CSD Department is responsible for all aspects of academic leadership and administration within the department, including setting strategic direction, providing mentorship and faculty development, budgeting and fiscal management, curriculum oversight and evaluation, and development of new initiatives. The Chair also has responsibilities in teaching and scholarly activities.

Qualifications. The Chair must hold a doctoral degree(PhD preferred), be eligible for licensure in Massachusetts, and have experience as a CSD educator. Previous academic leadership, and experience with CAA accreditation are desirable. The applicant should have strong communication skills, demonstrated leadership qualities, and a record of teaching, scholarship and service. The position is a 12-month appointment, with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
