The Milken Institute School of Public Health (GWSPH) and the GW Cancer Center at The George Washington University (GW) are recruiting for a distinguished scientist to serve as the GW Cancer Center Associate Center Director for Population Sciences and Policy and as a faculty member at the full Professor rank in the GWSPH. The incumbent will be a visionary and dynamic leader who will oversee the growth of cancer epidemiology, prevention, nutrition and environmental health science at GW; support the development of cancer policy-related research and initiatives both domestically and globally, given GW's strategic location in Washington, DC; and facilitate translational collaboration with the growing number of basic science and clinical cancer investigators at GW.

The recently created GW Cancer Center aims to achieve NCI designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center within the decade and Population Sciences and Policy is a critical component of this strategic goal. The GW Cancer Center incorporates all relevant cancer-related activities at GW, including the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Milken Institute School of Public Health, the GW Medical Faculty Associates and the GW Hospital to re-focus and re-energize the university's efforts in innovative cancer research. The GW Cancer Center has been charged to be an incubator of intra- and interdisciplinary collaboration in cancer biology, clinical/translational science, bioinformatics and computational medicine, and in population science and policy. GW is rapidly expanding its research enterprise with the addition of new state-of-the-art facilities including the $275M Science and Engineering Hall (which will house the GW Cancer Center administrative offices and laboratories) and the new Milken Institute SPH building, and the recruitment of a substantial number of cancer investigators in multiple fields.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a terminal degree (e.g., MD, PhD, ScD or DrPH) and be federally-funded cancer investigators (in population sciences and/or policy) with a strong record of significant publications in peer-reviewed journals, evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring, strong communication and leadership skills, and a commitment to collaborative research and academic citizenry.
