Degree and Area of Specialization:
MA or MS (minimum), relevant degrees may include journalism, communications, English, literature or allied professions.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Seven or more years of professional technical writing and editing experience in a broad array of scientific subject areas. The successful candidate will have extensive experience developing, writing and editing science, health, and medical materials for scientific and general audiences.
Strongly qualified candidates will have:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to research and synthesize information in both written and oral form.
- Ability to work independently and effectively under general supervision.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Initiative and creativity on the job along with the ability to problem solve.
- Superior listening skills to uncover information needs.
- Previous experience working in the publishing industry.
This position works within the Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies. The Center is a dynamic, mission-driven organization directed by Dr. David Gustafson with over 30 team members focused on research using technology, organizational, and individual change projects to improve health and quality of life for individuals and families facing chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
