Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or related field.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Relevant work experience in information systems management and computer programming is required.
One year of systems administration experience is preferred. Relevant work experience with Windows
Server, Linux, and VMWare is essential. Experience with IT security principles, scripting, automation,
continuous integration and code deployment tools, and MySQL server administration is preferred.

This position reports to the co-IT Director and will work closely with CALS web and applications development staff in identifying, configuring and implementing system solutions to meet the administrative, instructional, research or outreach needs of our clients. S/he will manage our development environments, our test, database, backup, and production servers, and our continuous integration workflow.
The CALS Office of Information Technology (CALS IT) provides information technology services to the College. Our services support the administrative, instructional and research computing needs of the College and bridge services offered at the department level and at the campus level through DoIT. We are comprised of two main service groups (Central IT Services & Administrative Computing Services), with numerous services provided by each. The System Administrator will provide support for services out of each group.
The person in this position must be dedicated to providing excellent customer service, work cohesively with other CALS IT staff and support the mission and goals of the CALS IT office. The right candidate will communicate well, be highly organized, collaborative, creative, and deadline oriented. In addition, s/he will be dependable, flexible, and contribute positively in a diverse work environment.
This is a fixed-term terminal appointment with a guaranteed length of 12 months (i.e. Sept 1, 2017-August 31, 2018). This appointment may be extended but the total period of employment as a fixed-term terminal appointment cannot exceed 24 months. This appointment may become a renewable appointment depending on funding.
