Responsibilities

This position will prepare and implement lessons plans and activities for students in the after-school program. This will include participating in outdoor activities, helping with homework, and working well with co-workers and students. Demonstrate positive interactions with children, including the ability to treat them with dignity and respect.
Demonstrate positive discipline through teaching and redirection and helping children to develop a positive self-esteem and sense of self-worth. Communicate with the Director and Coordinator daily behavior and other issues pertaining to the children or counselors within their unit as they occur.
Maintaining a professional demeanor at all times, staying focused on work related activities during work, showing up for work on time on a regular basis.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to establish working relationships with children, parents, and co-workers.
Ability to take direction, follow policy and procedures, complete tasks, and be a team player.
Ability to record daily attendance of children accurately.

Other Information

Must be able to provide 3 professional references.

Anticipated Salary Range

Hourly wage $10.25-$13.50/hour depending on level of education.

This is an OPS/temporary job

Schedule

Required work schedule during the school year is Monday-Friday, 28 hours a week. 16.25 hours must be worked 2:15pm-5:30pm, Monday-Friday. The remaining 11.25 hours can be worked anytime between 9:30am and 6:00pm.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. A Level 2 fingerprint check is a condition of employment with the cost being the responsibility of the successful candidate. Re-certification is required at 5 year intervals (at the employee’s expense).
