Job Summary:

Reports to the Associate Dean & Department Head of Access Services.
Working Hours: 20 hours/week
Required Hours: Nights & Weekends - including shifts between 12 midnight and 08:00AM
Library and Shift hours are subject to change
Pro-rated sick leave and vacation leave benefits

Job Responsibilities:

- Acts as the primary library staff member during 24/5 operations. Shifts will be approximately midnight - 8am (Sunday - Thursday) during spring and fall semesters.
- Performs Access Services (Circulation/Reserves) routine tasks, i.e., charging and discharging material, processing access/borrowing applications, collecting and recording fines, addressing questions about library services, etc.
- Provides a high level of service to members of the University of San Francisco community and campus guests.
- During certain hours is responsible for the Access Services Department operations in the absence of full-time personnel. In addition to the above duties, includes:
o Supervision of all Access Services student assistants working during these hours, assigning them work relevant to maintaining a good stack condition, efficient circulation procedures and security measures.
o Enforces library and USF policies.
o Performs other duties appropriate to the classification, including mending/bindery preparation, processing materials for Reserves, processing holds, recalls, and other departmental notices, etc.
o Interlibrary Lending/Link+ support, as needed.

Other Job Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Two years college experience or equivalent. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and online applications (e.g., Google docs). Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to carry out physical maneuvers which may involve lifting and carrying books, pushing book trucks, etc. Good organizational skills, including ability to maintain records with great attention to detail. Experience working in an academic library with automated systems, such as Innovative Interfaces - Sierra. Likes fast-paced, high volume and production work environment.
