Professional Nursing Tutor

The Professional Nursing Tutor will work in the Center for Academic Success (CAS) assisting students with course subject exams, study habits, stress management, learning style content, and review of the NCLEX-RN exam. This position will report to the Assistant Dean, Academic Success.

Responsible for planning and leading individual and/or collaborative group sessions that encourage student engagement and instructional support; facilitates students understanding of course objectives and clarification of key content. Tutors students in content area as well as in test taking skills in preparation for all exams (course, standardized, and NCLEX-RN). Assists with assessing the academic needs of the nursing students and developing plans for remediation; maintains documentation on student remediation plans, processes and success. Assists students to develop study and time management skills to promote success on exams. Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of the NCLEX-RN as well as currency in knowledge in the field to provide academic support. Communicates students' progress to the Assistant Dean, Academic Success. Documents student's success using Tutor Track. Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of college programs and accurately communicates academic policies and regulations to students. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required. Master's degree in Education or Nursing preferred. Professional unencumbered nurse licensure required. 1 year of experience providing support to others in precepting, tutoring, training, instruction, advising academic support services or classroom instruction required. 1 year of recent nursing experience required. Excellent communication skills with high degree of professionalism. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
