Anticipated Tenure Track Faculty Opening for Diagnostic Medical Sonography for Fall 2017

Successful candidates must be able to teach both day and evening classes including weekends, be committed to assessing student success and learning outcomes, assessing and developing new programs/curricula, demonstrating competence in instructional technology, especially on-line instruction and willing to accept assignments at any of our three locations (Paramus, Hackensack and Lyndhurst).  All positions require excellent organizational and communication skills as well as demonstrated scholarship and professional involvement.  Candidates invited for an interview will be required to do a teaching demonstration and present a teaching portfolio.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Job Code: F-SONOGRAPHY)

Position includes didactic, clinical, laboratory, simulation, didactic teaching and program clinical coordinator responsibilities.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to college-wide/departmental committee responsibilities, academic advisement, student mentoring, participation in scholarly activity and involvement in the department, college and community service.  Position begins in September 2017 at our Paramus campus.

The general responsibilities for a faculty member in this area are serving as clinical coordinator, developing curriculum and course syllabi, classroom/lab and clinical course instruction, developing evaluation methods, providing student performance feedback, counseling students for academic success, working as a member of the. diagnostic medical sonography team and maintaining professional development in diagnostic medical sonography.

Teaching responsibilities will include classroom/didactic/lab instruction, participation in clinical laboratory simulations.  Collaborate with faculty to assure that all students perform and demonstrate competence in all required skills prior to the completion of the program.

Required:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited program
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Certification
  • RDMS Certification – both Abdomen and OB/GYN certification by September 2017
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Ultrasound Program
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Registered Sonographer
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching experience
  • Availability to teach day and evening classes
  • Commitment to incorporation of library, computers, writing and a culturally diverse perspective into the curriculum
  • Knowledge of competency-based education
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn the technology to incorporate online teaching using the Moodleroom system
  • Commitment to the practice of providing for out-or-class interaction with students
  • Fundamental competency in the use of information technology
  • Commitment to continued assessment of the teaching-learning process and its outcomes
  • Commitment to continual professional growth and development
  • Must demonstrate experience utilizing technology and web enhanced courses, on-line management systems and simulation to enhance student learning objectives and program assessment outcomes
