General Summary of Position:
The Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation oversees three clusters: (1) Entrepreneurship and Economic Development; (2) Research Administration and Institutional Compliance; and (3) Strategic Alliances and Industry Partnerships. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Senior Budget Analyst for Research and Innovation is responsible for analyzing, short and long-term planning, monitoring, and reporting on specific Research and Innovation budgets. This position also prepares materials for internal budget meetings and works with administration to recommend and formulate policy and procedures related to budget process. Trains non-fiscal staff on budget issues and assists with budget reporting and issues.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-Bachelor's degree in business or public administration or a related field
-Significant (5-7 years) progressively responsible experience developing, projecting, analyzing and monitoring budgets of large institutions
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups

Other Considerations:
-Master's degree in business or public administration preferred
-Experience in a public institution of higher education preferred
-Working knowledge of the PeopleSoft Financial modules
-Knowledge of budget preparation procedures
-Knowledge of basic budgeting and accounting principles
-Knowledge of common business software applications (MS Office)
-Experience with and understanding of complex fund accounting/reporting computer systems
-Advanced accounting and budgeting skills related to budget development, projections, monitoring and analysis
-Ability to understand the administrative divisions and departments of an institution of higher education
-Ability to develop internal and external financial reports
-Ability to communicate orally and in writing effectively with all members of the university community
-Ability to develop budget policies and procedures
-Knowledge of federal cost share accounting principles
