Specialist Position in Carbon Nanotube Electronics

The Collins research group at the University of California, Irvine anticipates hiring one or more specialists in 2017, with one position to begin as early as March 1, 2017.
Specialists work in the laboratory full time, joining a team environment to help with ongoing fabrication and testing of carbon nanotube transistors. Current research explores the application of these transistors to ultra-sensitive, single-molecule sensing. Specialist will help synthesize carbon nanotubes, process wafers of electronic devices, and perform electrical characterization. Training will be provided on all of the necessary equipment, but the candidate must be prepared to work independently when needed,
Requirements: Candidates must have obtained a B.S. degree or higher in experimental physics, chemistry, materials science, or electrical engineering. Ideal candidates will have previous laboratory experience in a relevant field, such as (1) chemical vapor deposition of nanomaterials, (2) photolithography and other cleanroom processing, and/or (3) operation of electrical test equipment. Familiarity with LabVIEW will also be helpful. The annual salary ranges from $35,000 to $45,000 depending on the applicant's experience. The term of appointment is up to one year, renewable subject to satisfactory progress and availability of funding.
