Under the leadership of the NMUTR Director, the Program Advisor will oversee the recruitment of candidates for the residency. S/he will advise students on eligibility and the application process and will coordinate with the Graduate School, the Registrar's Office, and the State Department of Education to help candidates accurately complete their applications. The Advisor is responsible for organizing the process by which candidates apply to enter, register, and matriculate through the Residency. The Advisor helps to organize and implement recruitment activities, admissions orientations, open houses, information sessions, and other special NMUTR events. The Advisor helps to oversee and coordinate the admissions process and registration of residents throughout the program. S/he serves as a confidential advisor to candidates as they matriculate through the Residency, developing and building upon relationship with administrative offices and departments across the campus, including working with faculty at the University and in the schools. S/he will oversee the creation and maintenance of data-base records for evaluation purposes.
Qualifications & Requirements
Master degree in counseling, education or relevant field required. Experience in an institution of higher education, teacher education, or other field that is directly related to the functions of the position. Experience working with diverse populations in education settings. Some evenings and weekends required. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and administrative skills are essential.

• Ability to provide confidential assistance to students with academic, personal, developmental and social challenges.
• Ability to acquire knowledge of college policies and procedures.
• Ability to advise and counsel students and others concerning college programs, activities and services.
• Dependability, punctuality, and readiness to meet the time demands of the NMUTR.
