The University of Connecticut, University Information Technology Services, is seeking an energetic, proactive, self-motivated analyst to fill the position of Information Systems Analyst 2 or 3 (UCP 7 or 8). The successful candidate must have substantial IT experience with knowledge, skills and experience in IT and application administration, relational database concepts and strong SQL query skills. The incumbent must have best practice methodologies for identifying, gathering and documenting processes, business needs and requirements. This position requires expertise in written documentation including creating operating instructions for users. The incumbent should have experience with at least one scripting language.

Under the direction of the designated manager, this position provides advanced level technical assistance in developing and maintaining administrative computing systems and software. The analyst must possess strong organizational and technical skills. This position will provide information systems analysis and production support for UConn's Integrated Workplace Management Software (IWMS) solutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts needs analyses and feasibility studies for administrative computing systems and provides consulting services to administrative users; serves as interface between users, vendors, and university staff and provides assistance throughout the acquisition process and assists in the selected application implementation.
  • Implements best practice methodologies for identifying, gathering, and documenting processes, business needs, and requirements and writes supporting documentation and implements appropriate production procedures.
  • Conducts research, reviews, tests and/or evaluates the potential of new administrative products or enhancements; writes summaries and reports recommendations; researches licensing and purchasing arrangements relative to potential software.
  • Reports progress to users, colleagues and management through formal written communications including written documentation and operating instructions for users.
  • Performs analysis and coordinates activities in support of user project teams engaged in major administrative systems development.
  • Develops and implements systems including writing new programs or enhancing existing programs; analyzes and tests system upgrades to validate requirements; monitors application architecture including software, hardware, network, and data activity.
  • Performs analysis and coordination activities in support of internal computer center projects in such areas as data administration, production support, and data security.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  2. At least two to five years of progressively responsible technical experience.
  3. Demonstrated experience in training users, consulting with users for computing problems and experience working with a diverse group in a project team setting.
  4. Demonstrated abilities in analytical reasoning and problem solving.
  5. Experience with project management techniques and experience working with diverse groups in a project team setting.
  6. A solid background in IT and Application Administration along with Oracle database concepts and SQL programming.
  7. Experience and skills with Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
  8. Excellent attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Familiarity with implementing web applications.
  2. Familiarity with the use of REST and SOAP webservices.
  3. Experience with analysis and testing of system upgrades to validate requirements.
  4. Experience configuring and implementing application, work processes, roles, and securities.
  5. Experience with advanced data analytics via analytic tools.
  6. Kuali utilization or implementation experience.
  7. Demonstrated experience creating advanced reports.
  8. Experience with one or more BitBucket, SourceTree or other release management tools.
  9. PHP development experience.
  10. Java development experience.
  11. Application interface development experience.
  12. Knowledge of one or more CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) or IWMS (Integrated Workplace Management System) or ERP System.
  13. Experience with the monitoring of application architecture including software, hardware, network, and data activity.
  14. Working knowledge of Solution Development Life Cycle.
  15. Data Modeling experience.
  16. iOS or other mobile platform development experience.
  17. GIS familiarity.
