Job Description
The University of North Texas seeks a highly motivated, goal oriented and energetic fundraiser to secure annual and major gifts, as well as, sponsorships for the Mayborn School of Journalism. The Development Associate will join a division with dynamic and visionary leadership focused on advancing a donor-centric mission and building a vibrant team who will enthusiastically and strategically increase philanthropy and accelerate current momentum to propel the university's tremendous potential to new heights.

We are seeking a professional with a highly cooperative spirit, strong communication and relationship-building skills, a forward-thinking approach, the ability to relate to multiple constituencies and to represent the University with tact, diplomacy and passion.

The Development Associate works in collaboration with colleagues in the Division of Advancement and the Mayborn School of Journalism to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership annual gifts, sponsorships and major gifts in support of college priorities. The Development Associate will assist with fundraising for major initiatives and several signature events per year, including scholarships, Celebrate Mayborn and the Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference. One of the goals for this position includes developing and maintaining an engaged alumni base and corporate community by collaborating with the Mayborn School of Journalism Board of Advisors, faculty, alumni and other supporters.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
* Actively manage a qualified portfolio of 50 - 75 prospects.
* Proactively supports the mission of the Division of Advancement and is perceived to be an ambassador for the Division of Advancement, the Mayborn School of Journalism and the University.
* Coordinates with the AVP and Dean to design, plan and implement a development program to foster and enhance fundraising opportunities.
* Communicates with existing donors on a regular basis for continued cultivation and retention.
* Attends University sponsored events.
* Provides weekly status reports to Dean and Associate Vice President.
* Other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree and two years of professional experience in marketing, fundraising, event planning, public relations, corporate account sales, or communications; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
* Knowledge of fundraising and marketing principles.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the institution and with the public.
* Attention to detail.
