Job Description
The Electrical Engineering Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Instructional Lab Supervisor I to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
* Is Responsible for the coordination and supervision of all student instructional laboratories in the Department of Electrical Engineering and serving as the liaison with the college IT staff to maintain appropriate software and hardware for student instructional needs.
* Responsible for training of student workers and teaching assistants, conducting complex tests, and experiments for demonstration purposes.
* Coordinating repairs of instructional equipment with vendors.
* Identifying appropriate instructional supplies and responsible for ordering materials and lab supplies needed by students for various projects and courses, making consistent availability to all students.
* Preparing and maintaining inventories of supplies for labs and equipment, and making recommendations for instructional equipment.
* Oversight and accountability to the laboratory spending budget, and maintaining control of Lab Property and the yearly depreciation schedule.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Master's Degree in related field and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:
* Working knowledge of equipment and instrumentation appropriate to the nature of the lab and/or the discipline and of supplies including operation, set-up, storage, and maintenance.
* Working knowledge of instructional applications related to the laboratory and/or the discipline.
* Physical abilities and skills to readily assemble and operate equipment and instrumentation.
* Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions applicable to the lab, particularly in the sciences or engineering.
* Ability to make effective presentations of experiments or software, and provide instruction in laboratory techniques, use of equipment, use of software, procedures, and safety rules.
* Ability to supervise work performed by others.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
* Experience and ability to work closely with students and provide necessary guidance with project supply needs and instructional equipment utilization.
* Two years of electronics laboratory experience
* Ability to access and operate instrumentation and storage areas.
* Proficiencies in software and hardware applications. Extensive knowledge of operating systems and software packages appropriate to the nature of the lab and/or the discipline including operation, set-up, and maintenance of computer networks, desktop/laptop imaging solutions, and Microsoft Windows and Office.
* Knowledge of various EE CAD software such as LabView, Cadence, and Xilinx.
* Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux desired.
