About the College/Department
The Poultry Science Department consists of approximately 30 nationally respected faculty in various fields of study. Undergraduate, M.S. and Ph.D. programs are offered by the Department.
The Poultry Science Department/Center of Excellence for Poultry Science is housed in an 112,000-square-foot office, laboratory and classroom complex located on the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, campus. Additional poultry science facilities are located within close proximity to the campus and include a poultry research farm, a pilot processing plant, a feed mill, a poultry health and isolation unit, and commercial style research farms for broilers and broiler breeders. Summary of Job Duties
The appointed individual will be responsible for managing a poultry immunology research laboratory which conducts basic research in poultry immunology and (auto)-inflammatory diseases. The principal responsibilities include conducting whole animal, cellular and molecular procedures from assay development to data collection and analysis; husbandry and pedigree breeding of research lines of chickens, care of experimental animals, and maintenance of farm research facilities; supervision and training of students and hourly workers; maintaining equipment and chemicals, ensuring the efficient running of the poultry immunology laboratory in the Poultry Science Center. Additional responsibilities include preparation of materials for class-based instruction and training of others in techniques utilized in the research laboratory as well as scheduling and supervising of on-farm research conducted at the Poultry Research Farm and the Poultry Health Laboratory.

A Bachelor's Degree in Poultry Science or Animal Science, plus three years of research experience in poultry immunology/molecular biology or a Master's Degree Poultry Science, Animal Science, or in related fields.
