Clinical Research Nurse

About The Unit:

Unit Job Summary: Serve as a Clinical Research Nurse in the Department of Medicine, Section of Endocrinology (Kovler Diabetes Center) under the supervision of the Director, Executive Director and the Principal Investigator(s) of assigned studied. Participate in the conduct of clinical research projects/studies involving various modalities of treatment for patients in the Department of Medicine. Assist with NIH Funded Diabetes prevention multi-centered trials implemented, and coordinated within the Section. Participate in established and future research programs in the Section. Serve as liaison between P.I., sponsoring agent, regulatory groups, patient, family members, referring MD's/community MD's, pharmacist, statistician and other members of the research team. Assist in the development of comprehensive databases and participate in Qi/QA projects.

Unit Education: Registered Nurse with a current Illinois license required. Bachelor's degree in nursing required.

Unit Experience: Two years of clinical nursing experience with demonstrated clinical competence in patient care, teaching and management of patient treatment plans, and knowledge about clinical research including protocol therapy and data management preferred.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Knowledge of computers required; adaptability to changing working situations and work assignments required.
