Job Summary:
Serves as the lead institutional researcher for all academic quality and student success initiatives. Conducts applied educational research on project-level academic quality and student success initiatives by collecting, managing, and analyzing institutional data using multivariate statistical techniques and qualitative methods. Collaborates and communicates effectively with colleagues to measure the effectiveness of academic quality and student success initiatives, particularly those aligned with Guided Pathways. Translates research findings into usable information and disseminates via written reports and presentations. Serves on various cross-functional teams, including the Guided Pathways Team, and the Discipline/Program Review Committee. Functions effectively in a challenging environment with an ability to handle multiple tasks at once with efficiency and accuracy.

Essential Functions:
1. Conducts applied educational research for distribution to internal and external stakeholders.
2. Designs effective, valid, and reliable performance indicators, data dashboards, etc. to provide high quality data on academic quality and student success initiatives to inform formative and summative decision making.
3. Collects, manages, and analyzes data from across the College in support of intuitional research related to academic quality and student success initiatives.
4. Designs surveys directly related to academic quality and student success, including identification of target populations, sampling, procedures to be used, and development of survey instruments and materials in collaboration with the Coordinator of Institutional Research.
5. Utilizes qualitative research methods and analyzes and reports qualitative data.
6. Identifies and analyzes factors external to the College that affect academic quality and student success.
7. Assists faculty, staff, and project teams to determine need/justification for projects and initiatives; collaborates to determine data needs of projects, data collection methods and design, and conduct research studies to evaluate effectiveness of projects/initiatives for formative and summative decision making.
8. Compiles and distributes cohort, longitudinal, and comparative data related to academic program quality and student outcomes.
9. Analyzes, translates, and disseminates data in user-friendly visual documents (e.g., tables, charts, graphs, etc.) and disseminates results via appropriate electronic media, written reports, and in-person presentations.
10. Collaborates with colleagues to ensure that data used to inform decisions are accurate, relevant, and accessible.
11. Keeps current on promising and innovative practices in institutional research and share with appropriate College personnel.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Under the limited supervision of the Vice President, Academic Services, the Institutional Researcher, Academic Quality and Student Success provides IR leadership and expertise to support academic quality and student success initiatives. May supervise staff and student employees.

Job Specifications:
Master’s Degree required; doctorate degree strongly preferred. Three or more years of experience in institutional research in higher education required. Experience with institutional effectiveness and student outcome models, research design, statistical techniques and manipulating large data sets. Familiarity with the Banner information system highly preferred. Strong analytical, database, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to design and produce accurate and effective research reports. Ability to work in a team environment.

Grade: 11
Salary Range: Minimum $58,406 Midpoint $77,388
