Duties: This position is for the Molecular Pathology and Imaging Core (MPIC) in the Division of Gastroenterology. MPIC is a histology core that provides services to associated laboratories. The duties include processing, embedding, and sectioning paraffin samples; performing H&E and other histological stains; perform immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence experiments for core members and their labs as needed; Maintain detailed records as well as a clean work environment.
In addition to the above, the Research Specialist B will perform cryo-sectioning (frozen sectioning); assist in the training of core members and their laboratories in the areas of immunostaining, microscopy (including brightfield, fluorescence, confocal and laser capture microscopy), and imaging with Nikon elements; and help clients plan experiments.

Qualifications: Research Specialist A: Bachelor's degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Research Specialist B: Bachelor's degree and 1 to 3 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Both Research Specialist A and B must have histology experience working in a research laboratory setting ; ability to work independently and as a team player is essential. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to faculty, staff and other researchers
