Rowan University seeks a full-time technical trainer for ASA’s Training Services. The position, supervised by the manager of Training Services, requires designing and delivering end-user training pertaining to relevant campus technology and applications (e.g. Ellucian Banner System, IBM Cognos reporting tool, ServiceNow, etc.) for faculty, staff, and administrators.

This position requires a self-motivated and resourceful individual who can assess the audience/situational needs and adapt to provide the appropriate level of learning. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, creative, enthusiastic, and independent worker as well as a person who can work well within a team.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce technical training course content pertaining to relevant campus technology
  • Deliver end-user training (groups or individuals, in-person, webinars and videos) based on assessed needs and training objectives
  • Communicate effectively, assess the audience/situational needs and adapt to provide the appropriate level of learning for technical and nontechnical individuals
  • Determine effectiveness of training; recommend and make improvements as needed
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies, develop new skills, and achieve a functional and technical understanding of relevant campus technologies and applications
  • Engage in continuing professional development in the training field
  • Report data as required
  • Serve as second-level support throughout the implementation phase of new software
  • Collaborate with the Support Desk to ensure smooth transition to a long-term support model
  • Perform administrative duties directly related to training processes, ASA, IRT, and/or projects as assigned by the Training Manager



  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • At least three (3) years of technical training experience
  • Ability to execute technical training for adults of various technical abilities
  • Interpersonal skills that include the ability to interact with technical and nontechnical personnel in a professional manner
  • Exceptional teamwork
  • Experience in developing interactive technical training materials (in-person, webinar and videos)
  • Knowledge of training techniques for technical subjects
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Highly organized and able to manage time and work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • The ability and desire to learn new and emerging tools and technologies


  • Three (3) years of experience in Higher Education
  • Proficiency in using Adobe Captivate to create training videos
  • Proficiency in using WebEx as a presenter
  • Proficiency in training IBM Cognos, Ellucian Banner, Qualtrics, ServiceNow, Confluence, GoSignMeUp and/or Cascade
