Join a small team supporting the diverse technology needs of the Computer Science Department, in a new position responsible for designing and implementing a wide variety of infrastructure projects. Projects will include collaborating with faculty on designing, building, and running research experiments; building tools and software environments for innovative classroom initiatives; and architecting infrastructure solutions to meet the operational challenges of a rapidly growing department.  If you have a background in Linux systems engineering in an academic or research environment, or if you have a science background along with engineering experience in a DevOps organization, you may be a good fit for this position.

Qualifications:

BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, MA/MS preferred; or equivalent years experience in a scientific research setting and strong familiarity with experiment design and support. Five to eight years of relevant experience.  Advanced knowledge of Linux systems engineering, and experience designing and building a wide array of infrastructure services required.  Extensive shell scripting experience, and fluency in at least one common high-level programming language required; multiple preferred.  Familiarity with configuration management and distributed version control tools strongly desired.  Familiarity with scientific experiment design, computational methodologies, data analysis, and common scientific software packages (Matlab, R, CUDA, etc) are all big plusses.  Ability to think and work independently on a project with only broad guidance and minimal supervision will be critical to success in this position.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and habits, and the ability to work productively with individuals possessing a wide array of technical proficiencies and personality types are essential.
