Sales and Marketing Assistant

Stanford University Press is seeking a talented Sales and Marketing Assistant to provide routine administrative or operational support working from detailed instructions.


  • Answer phones, and serve as a resource on unit procedures and general inquiries from authors or vendors.
  • Disseminate routine communications such as memos, notices, emails, and letters.
  • Perform office duties including, but not limited to, handling of incoming and outgoing mail, entering data into basic tables, reports, database, or spreadsheets, and making copies.
  • Assist in the creation of sales materials for new and forthcoming books.
  • Serve as a liaison with bookstores and private customers.
  • May provide guidance to temporary and student employees on routine matters.

    *- Other duties may also be assigned


    Education & Experience:
    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Other Relevant Education May Include:
    Bachelor's Degree preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic computer skills and demonstrated experience with office and database software and email applications.
  • Ability to follow through and complete assigned tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.

    Other Relevant Physical Requirements May Include:
  • Lift/Carry/Push/Pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds
