Position Summary

This position consists of performing patient assessments and electroencephalograms. Technician may be asked to train in electromyograms and evoked potentials.  Position is in an ambulatory setting performing studies on both adult and pediatric populations. Will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and health care assistant in the Department of Neurology.  Technician will also be responsible for archiving studies, ordering supplies, and assisting clinic with clerical work as necessary.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or health related field or one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the performing electroneurodiagnostic studies and interpretation of these tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Excellent communication skills and board eligible by the current standards as established by the American Board of Registered EG Technologists (ABRET) and capable of taking END registry examinations within one year of employment.

Duties associated with this position include: exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator.
