Cryomodule Instrumentation Engineer

Position Summary

Fabricate, modify, install, maintain, and repair instrumentation systems of cryomodule, including heater, temperature sensor and helium level sensor; prepares the wires and connectors instrumentation system; involved in the quality control of instrumentation and documentation; read and interpret drawings and work instructions; perform routine maintenance of stock for instrumentation; performs entry level fabrication, maintenance, and repair of systems-level electronic equipment; detects and corrects mechanical problems leading to component failure, such as lack of space between connectors; diagnose electronics problems; records test procedures, results and suggested improvements.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired by completing a four-year college program in Systems or Computer Science; or Engineering or Physics, with coursework in Systems or Computer Science; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in electronics, mechanical and/or electrical drafting and fabrication techniques, or computer programming in one or more languages used by the NSCL; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Two to three years of progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in accelerator facility equipment wiring and instrumentation, PLC, low voltage control, temperature sensors, and pressure sensors.
