Summary of Duties:
The Analytical Research Assistant will work in the analytical laboratory in the PACCAR Environmental Technology Building. PACCAR's research program is interdisciplinary and includes work in the areas of sustainable design, renewable materials, and air and water resources. This position will support all research units in the building. The Assistant will work on the identification and definition of analytical research problems, design approaches or methodology, as well as analyze and interpret research data. The position will be responsible for training other researchers on safe working practices for using the analytical equipment, will troubleshoot any issues that arise during the course of research and assist with collection and interpretation of data as needed. Other responsibilities include; set up, maintenance, repair and calibration of instrumentation; maintain regulatory and safety protocols and records; assist with scheduling of equipment; review and participate in the development of standard operating procedures; perform general laboratory maintenance. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and have excellent communication skills.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience.
