Hamilton College, a highly selective liberal arts college located in the scenic village of Clinton, NY, is seeking a results-oriented admission professional who wants to be part of a highly effective team. The Admission Office staff is characterized by an unusual degree of teamwork and camaraderie, a high level of energy and commitment, exceptional communication skills and creative problem-solving abilities.  This is a full-time position available to start July 15.

The Associate Dean of Admission/Director of Admission Communication will oversee and manage the marketing and communication efforts of the Admission Office.  This newly created position will play an important role in coordinating and maintaining a comprehensive communication plan that includes web, print materials, and email and social media campaigns targeted at prospective students and their parents.  The successful candidate will organize the work of the admission team in these areas and will liaise and work closely with the College’s Communications Office.  The associate dean will ensure that the Admission Office realizes the benefits of Slate, a newly implemented Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and will collaborate closely with the admission leadership team (including the vp for enrollment management, dean of admission and admission operations manager) on marketing initiatives that range from strategic to tactical. Additionally, the associate dean will serve as a leader on the admission team generally, and specifically as an advocate for messaging and campaigns that responsibly represent Hamilton and help the College achieve its enrollment goals.

Key Job Functions:

Oversee and coordinate the Admission Office’s marketing initiatives

Create and maintain a comprehensive communications sequence for prospective students and their families

Liaise and collaborate closely with Hamilton’s Communications Office and, to the degree that time allows, serve as an adjunct member of that team

Coordinate the accurate and timely updating of all admission materials and web content, as well as the execution of a companion email campaign

Ensure that all Admission Office outreach and campaigns support the messaging and branding guidelines set by the College’s Communications Office

Regularly report and assess the success of various recruitment campaigns using data and analytics tools

Work closely with the Senior Director of Interactive Media to develop and maintain a social media campaign for the admission office that is coordinated with and supplemental to the overall College campaign

Traditional admission responsibilities that include travel to secondary schools, college fairs and other off-campus programs (approximately 4-6 weeks/year), regional management of assigned recruitment territories, secondary school counselor relations, presenting on and off campus about the College and benefits of a liberal arts education, interviewing prospective students, review of applications and selection of candidates for admission.

Must have demonstrated experience with project management and close collaboration within and between offices

Must be an excellent and persuasive writer

Must be flexible, adaptable and able to handle a demanding work schedule

Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team

5+ years of experience in admission communications and/or marketing in higher education or related industry preferred

Significant admission experience (travel, territory and relationship management, reviewing application files) preferred

Knowledge and proficiency with modern marketing strategies preferred

Knowledge of a CRM system, experience with analytics and appreciation for data analysis preferred
