The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Research Development.

Founded in 1824, the School is the 11th oldest medical school in the country and the first in the nation's capital. Today the School and its affiliated faculty practice plan and hospital are recognized for excellence in medical education, research, and patient care.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Associate Dean will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Research and will support faculty in their pursuit of research funding by identifying appropriate funding sources and providing educational opportunities to enhance grantsmanship skills. They will provide overall coordination of the School's research development efforts and will also provide general administrative leadership for the operation of strategic projects in coordination with the Senior Associate Dean for Research. In addition, the Associate Dean will serve as an advisor to clinician-scientists, medical students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows regarding research opportunities.

The Associate Dean will receive a faculty appointment in an appropriate department. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent degree; research experience at the rank of associate or full professor; significant experience in research management; leadership experience; and excellent communication, organizational, analytic, and computing skills.
