Part Time Continuing Education Instructor-ESL (West Park & Center of Grace)

Job Description

Teach English to non-native speakers by emphasizing reading, vocabulary development, listening, speaking, writing, grammar. Teach basic life skills, workplace skills, computer skills, civics/citizenship skills. Work with community literacy volunteers. Maintain student charts and attendance records. Complete quarterly reports. Participate in new student intake such as registration and testing. Participate in staff development activities & complete annual mandatory trainings. Utilize online resources to teach life skills English. Lesson planning and submission of lesson plans weekly to supervisor required. Must have a flexible schedule to attend professional development activities and meetings.

Positions are located at our West Park campus in Overland Park and Center of Grace in Olathe, KS.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education (K-12), English as a Second Language, or related area required.
  • Must be able to assess student learning levels and develop ISPs.
  • Must be able to work with community literacy volunteers.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software and classroom technology.
  • TESOL Certificate preferred.
  • Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, Applied Linguistics, or related field preferred.

Required Experience
  • 1 year teaching in a classroom setting required

Work Hours/Days
Monday & Wednesday 6:00-9:00 or Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-9:00. Additional meeting time 4:30 to 5:00 on Wednesday for M/W classes. Additional meeting time 4:30-5:30 on Thursday for T/Th classes.
