The Administrative Assistant will provide diversified administrative support for the Art + Design Department and contribute to the overall effectiveness and daily operations of the Office. S/he will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical services for the Art + Design Department; book travel and lodging for visitors; prepare and processing hiring paperwork; Assist with scheduling courses, classrooms, and final exams; answer phone calls and respond to inquiries about the Department; dispatch and distribute mail and e-mail; support the Art + Design Department Office, including opening and closing the office, supervising work-study students, maintaining equipment, keeping office clean and presentable, managing distribution of keys, key codes, assign student lockers, process facility request, assist faculty with securing rooms for special events, update document requests received from the Dean's Office and other administrative activities as needed.
Bachelor’s degree preferred and at least three years of administration experience, preferably in higher education; must be extremely detailed oriented. Budget and office management experience required. Computer proficiency, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel (especially in creating detailed spreadsheets), and PowerPoint is required. Proficient with Concur the Employee Travel and Expense Reconciliation System, Banner Finance, and Northeastern Time Tracking System (training is available). Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Ability to work with a high degree of flexibility, with minimal daily oversight
