Job Description
The University of North Texas seeks an experienced, highly-motivated, goal-oriented and energetic fundraiser with a proven track record of closing major gifts and exceeding measurable performance goals. The Director of Development will join a division with dynamic and visionary leadership focused on advancing a donor-centric mission and building a vibrant team who will enthusiastically and strategically increase philanthropy and accelerate current momentum to propel the university's tremendous potential to new heights.

We are seeking a professional with a highly cooperative spirit, strong communication and relationship-building skills, a forward-thinking approach, the ability to relate to multiple constituencies and to represent the University with tact, diplomacy and passion. The Director of Development, Planned Giving, works in consultation with executive leadership to develop funding opportunities and implement a comprehensive program to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects and donors for major gifts in support of university initiatives. The Director works in a collegial and supportive manner with colleagues and donors to maximize giving to the university and coordinates with corporate and foundation relations and academic units. The Director collaborates with UNT's advancement services, donor relations and marketing/communications teams to implement effective recognition and messaging.

The position reports to the Senior Director of Development for Planned Giving and works closely with Deans, Faculty and University volunteers.

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Plan, manage and serve as a solicitor for Planned Giving solicitations. Develop and present proposals to secure major gifts from individuals.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the university to fulfill donor goals and objectives and to implement appropriate stewardship and recognition.
* Help create a quarterly or semi-annual staff training program. Cover topics such as: Identifying the top planned gift prospects, understanding the basic planned gift options, expanding options for major gifts with non-cash assets, etc.
* Establish a sustainable system with Advancement Services to insure Planned Giving data is entered correctly and on a timely basis.
* Support, consult and serve as an advisor and primary point of contact for UNT Planned Giving for prospects, donors, volunteers and university colleagues; serving as a mentor to less experienced Development Officers and supervises direct & indirect reports.
* Participate in and support any special project fundraising for university priorities as assigned by the Senior Director of Development for Planned Giving.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree and four years of professional experience in fundraising, event planning, or public relations; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:
* Knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising principles
* Supervisory experience
* Travel and weekend duties as necessary

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Blackbaud Raiser's Edge experience
