Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field is required.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of related, professional work experience is preferred for the Associate level, required for the no-prefix level. The most qualified candidates will bring to this position the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), development of financial statements under GAAP, financial reporting principles and automated accounting system processes and operations. Ability to develop, implement and maintain cash based accounting systems; Computer education and experience with mainframe and personal computer (PC) based accounting systems and applications; data processing education; and experience with PC spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel) preferred; Knowledge of PC applications and databases including WISDM and Great Plains; Computer applications, spreadsheet, and word processing aptitude; Knowledge of state statutes, NCAA regulations, administrative rules and department policies; Ability to identify problems and develop and implement a corrective action plan to resolve the problem in accordance with UW policies; Knowledge of Event Ticketing software (Paciolan, Ticketmaster, etc.); Knowledge of the Elevation Financial Reporting System; Knowledge of contract management tools; Knowledge of GRASP travel reporting tool; Time management skills; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees; Customer service and communication skills; Good organizational skills and experience in formal documentation; and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. The position requires a high level of independent judgment to oversee and perform complex budget analysis and financial reporting duties.



Position Summary:

Under the oversight and general supervision of the Associate Athletic Director, the incumbent will serve as a Budget Analyst supporting a $130 million, 23 sport NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletic Program which supports over 800 student-athletes. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the budget development process, and analyzing departmental budgets searching for variances and trends.
