The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia is seeking to fill the position of Senior Assistant to the Chair. This position provides administrative assistance in all aspects of the Department Chair's activities, including prioritizing complex issues and maintaining strict confidentiality. Incumbent will perform advanced administrative and office support duties at the highest level. Duties will include administrative, as well as financial management of the Chair's expenditures.
Qualified applicants must have an high school diploma or higher with at least four years of relevant experience. A Bachelor's degree may substitute for years of experience.
This is a restricted position and is contingent on the continuation of funding.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to evaluate and apply information and provide advice.
Strong working knowledge of administrative procedures. Ability to analyze and present information.
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication in daily interactions.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Provide direct support to leaders, as needed. Ability to mentor junior professionals.
Proficient in computer applications, working knowledge of various database and software programs. Can interpret information and apply to daily work. Ability to use an array of business software applications, such as word processor software, presentation software, and spreadsheet software.
