Associate Professor for Chemical Engineering and Materials Science

Job Description

The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science invites applications for a non-tenure-track teaching position beginning in August 2016. The position is expected to be at the teaching assistant/associate professor level. Outstanding applicants at higher levels especially those with rich industrial experience may also be considered, however.

Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (MS&E) or a closely related field; possess either a record or promise of being an outstanding teacher; and the ability to assess and improve the curriculum. Duties will include teaching Materials courses in the Undergraduate Engineering Core, curriculum development, and participation in Institute service activities.

To be successful, a candidate should be technically up to date; energetic, articulate and engaging; able to teach basic and applied subjects to a multidisciplinary audience; and able to contribute to efforts for laboratory development, course and program innovation, etc. Knowledge of or experience implementing evidence-based, active learning methodologies (flipped classroom, process oriented guided inquiry learning, etc.) is a plus.
