SR DATA ANALYST
Duties: Application and Information Services (AIS), a unit within Information Systems and Computing (ISC), works with University clients to plan, acquire, develop, and maintain the University's core business and student support systems. AIS is seeking a Sr. Data Analyst to join the team responsible for the implementation of Penn's planned Human Capital Management (HCM) system, working in support of data warehousing and business application implementation efforts for new HCM related activities.
Interact closely with clients and ISC colleagues to deliver quality solutions to complex business opportunities and problems involving administrative processes and data. Interview clients to understand their business processes and associated information needs; work with clients and ISC colleagues to ensure correct and appropriate use of University data and that it is properly secured; support clients and ISC colleagues in the use of data management and reporting technologies; provide data modeling, physical design and quality assurance expertise to project teams; evaluate data architectures of vendor supplied business solutions; plan and implement data extraction, transformation and load processes for data warehousing efforts; plan and implement data conversions for new application systems; create and maintain documentation (i.e., project proposals, requirements documents and data documentation); conduct training sessions for clients and ISC colleagues; assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and standards.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of experience delivering data warehousing and/or business system solutions in a large university or similar complex organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience or knowledge directly related to human resource/personnel and payroll processes, systems and data. Must be self-motivated with a proactive approach to completing work assignments and able to work effectively on multiple concurrent assignments. Proven analytic skills and applied knowledge of how organizations use information to aid decision making. Experience on project teams with the demonstrated ability to plan, estimate and deliver work on a schedule. Flexibility, collaborative spirit and client service orientation. Strong written and excellent verbal communication skills; adept at developing and delivering oral presentations appropriate for audience. Demonstrated ability to listen and assimilate information provided by others; good influencing skills and ability to reach consensus with clients and peers. Facility in learning and applying technology to business problems. Experience with the following classifications of technologies: Productivity (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), Database (i.e., Oracle, MS Access), Business Intelligence/Reporting Tools (i.e., BusinessObjects, QlikView, Crystal Reports, Toad). Experience with the following classifications of technologies is desired: Data Modeling, ETL, Web Development.
Experience with Dashboard Design, OLAP, Data Mining, Predictive Analysis and Performance Management is a plus.
