Duties: This position will support laboratory research studies focusing on the genetic regulation of lipoprotein metabolism and the molecular mechanisms underlying these processes. Duties will involve general cell culture, as well as specialized cell culture related to differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to hepatocytes and neural cells. Responsibilities will also include assistance with phenotypic characterization of these iPS-derived cells, including biochemical assays, lipoprotein kinetics and cholesterol efflux assays. This position will also include some work with small animals. The individual will operate relatively independently and be responsible for training other lab members; will also be expected to adapt assay methods to new applications. In addition, this individual will be responsible for some general laboratory operations. Special note: Due to the nature of iPS cell culture and differentiation protocols, this position demands flexibility in work hours, as some weekend hours will be necessary.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: BA/BS in a biological science and 1-2 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required; 2-3 years of experience preferred. Laboratory experience in IPS cell culture and differentiation, small animal research and in vitro assays such as cholesterol efflux capacity, are expected. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are also required.
