Working Title Manager of Nutrition and Sustainability

Job Summary

As a member of the EWU Dining Services Management Team, manages the nutritional standards and sustainability programs for the department, serving as the main point of contact for these programs.
Provides technical assistance in food service management (such as recipe standardization, food nutritional content, catering and food production direction) or provides technical nutritional care (such as instruction in proper nutrition, evaluating student diet history to determine risk category, and managing the nutritional care of assigned students).
Manages departmental sustainability programs and outreach.
Duties may include supervising others engaged in planning menus, ordering, storing, and maintaining inventories of foods and supplies, preparing and serving meals, as they relate to nutrition and sustainability programs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition or related field.
  • Registered Dietitian with current standing in American Dietetic Association.
  • Exposure to school nutrition programs, other highly regulated food nutrition programs or food service industry, such as school supervised practical experience.

Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability, and/or experience in promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in high volume food service industry such as health care or higher education.
  • Experience with athletic programs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.


Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write to reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a one-on-one, as well as, group situations with managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Ability to perform simple mathematical and algebraic problems.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
