ASSISTANT ARCHIVIST FOR ACQUISITIONS, Gotlieb Archival Research Center (4714/F2617)
Provide support and assistance to the Archivist for Acquisitions with the archival material coming in to the Gotlieb Center. Apply archival techniques and prepare preliminary listings for the new material. Sort, organize and identify the material within the policies and procedures of the Center. Other duties include providing assistance to researchers utilizing the manuscript and rare book holdings in HGARC as well as writing responses to queries received by mail, e-mail, and telephone relative to various collections. Research topics and formulate the information to be provided to the researcher. Assist in the training and supervision of student assistants.
Bachelors degree required, preferably in Liberal Arts and Humanities, excellent organizational skills, must be flexible and able to work in an environment of constantly shifting priorities and one to three years of experience, preferably working with manuscripts in an archive.
