Emergency Hire for Addiction Counseling Assistant/Associate Professor
The Department of Counselor Education at New Jersey City University invites applications for an emergency hire position (10-month, non-tenured track) effective from September 1, 2017.
The position requires teaching, supervising, and advising master’s students as well as attending departmental, college, and university events. We are seeking a faculty member who has expertise in addiction counseling and experience in research, publication, and other scholarly activities.
Candidates should have an earned doctorate in counselor education and supervision from a CACREP-accredited university prior to appointment. Applicants should be licensed or license-eligible as a professional counselor (LPC and/or LCADC in NJ) and a member of the American Counseling Association. Teaching experience in the areas of clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, and/or addiction counseling are required, as well as excellent communication, collegial, and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach 12 credit hours for each academic semester (Fall and Spring) in addiction counseling courses and across the core curriculum. Responsibilities will also include student advisement; service to the department, the college, the university, and the community; and participation in faculty development.
