About The Unit: Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and HR, individual will be responsible for overall office management and human resources management activities. Provide strategic and organizational management for large University department. Collaborate with Senior Leaders, Directors and Managers to develop and implement HR programs and annual calendar to meet strategic objectives. Provide comprehensive support in the areas of organizational effectiveness, talent management, employee relations, training and development, and compensation. Lead the Human Resources team, delivering front end services to department employees. Interfaces with central University Departments to ensure satisfaction of University requirements as well as to refine and develop new reporting metrics, and promote overall process improvement for the organization. Recommend, design and implement organizational development initiatives that focus on leadership development, employee onboarding/offboarding, performance management, succession planning, career pathing and employee engagement. You will also partner with unit leaders to create curriculum and assist with implementation of training designed to address department goals and specific learning opportunities. Proactively ensure that we have an effective collection of vendors to assist with hiring and contracting needs for our evolving needs, and work with Procurement to maintain acceptable contracts with each. Develop and Manage the Reward and Recognition programs for the department. Collaborate with the Engagement and Strategy team to develop employee engagement initiatives. Team is responsible for the setup and orientation of new office staff, along with exit processes.

Unit Job Summary: Provides support to department to assist, guide, and direct group leaders, and align human resources solutions with business needs Supports strategic programs by collaborating with departmental leaders and central human resources to assess organization design, workflow, tools, roles and behaviors. Conducts regular meetings with respective leaders Analyzes trends and metrics, and collaborates with leadership team to develop solutions, programs and policies Ensures alignment of unit objectives Manage direct reports, including performance management and professional development opportunities Act as a matrix manager of supporting staff, providing a buffer between management and direct reports Proactively work behind scenes to solve problems, mediate disputes and deal with operational challenges Assists in rolling out corporate-wide HR initiatives to department Works with Central HR to manages and resolves complex employee relations issues through conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance; for example H1-B visas Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to department managers (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) Works closely with managers and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning Identifies and conducts training needs for departmental units Other duties as assigned.

Unit Education: Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Behavior/Development or related field Preferred: MBA or Master's Degree in Organizational Development or Human Resources

Unit Experience: Required: Minimum 8-10 years' progressive experience in organizational development and/or Human Resources Significant supervisory experience managing a team with multiple disciplines Preferred: Significant Vendor Management and/or Contract Negotiation experience is a plus

Effective at managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, ability to prioritize conflicting demands, organize time and resources to deliver solid and consistent results for the business and bring assignments to successful completion Strong technical aptitude; advanced skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office to include: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and general understanding of systems and their application to advance efficiency of operation.
