MCD is seeking an experienced development professional in the area of stewardship for a six-month term position. The right person will be an effortless writer and editor. The appropriate candidate will be highly productive, seeking an office that drives toward excellence and has a multitude of projects underway at any one time. The Associate Director will be responsible for coordinating and implementing stewardship strategies for principal level donors, including individual, corporate and foundation donors, as well as supporting and enhancing the success of stewardship efforts for key Stanford Medicine priorities and initiatives. This person will collaborate with gift officers in Medical Center Development to ensure the wise use of the resources our donors provide; ensure meaningful, timely, and appropriate actions to thank donors, recognize them, and report on their gifts; ensure that beneficiaries understand the intent, impact, and use of donor gifts; and connect donors directly with beneficiaries as appropriate. The position requires experience in a complex organization, excellent collaboration skills, and a strong customer service orientation.

Reporting to the Director of Stewardship for Medical Center Development, the Associate Director is a member of the stewardship team, ensuring effective project management and efficient processes.

JOB PURPOSE:
Manage stewardship programs designed to communicate with the university's donors. Create and implement customized and comprehensive stewardship plans.

CORE DUTIES*:
  • Participate in defining the stewardship strategy in adherence to the university's stewardship standards.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive reporting to donors.
  • Responsible for the allocation of resources for stewardship reporting, the gift acknowledgment process, and stewardship requests. Proactively monitor and manage the stewardship needs of donors. Build a complete understanding of each donor's involvement and giving activity.
  • Write and produce a high volume of stewardship deliverables.
  • Coordinate with staff and development officers to develop and produce key stewardship deliverables, including written (hard copy, email or online content), video, or events. * - Other duties may also be assigned

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong client service orientation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and professionalism to interact with a wide range of people at different levels of an organization.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to edit high-level correspondence.
  • Demonstrated experience leading project teams.
  • Proven ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities, with competing deadlines.
  • Must be able to conduct research and ability to interpret information available in a database.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Tact, discretion, and experience handling confidential information.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and database applications.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment in situations requiring independent decision-making and in handling confidential and sensitive material. Certifications and Licenses:

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, stand/walk, sit, use a telephone.
  • Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
