The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Assistant Director of Financial Aid position.

Jobs in this career family provide direct professional support for the teaching and/or educational service mission of the university. Functions include academic advising/counseling, student personnel administration, recruitment and admissions, registration, financial aid, faculty affairs, library services, curriculum administration, and others involving direct support of the educational mission of an academic unit.
Assistant Directors have responsibility for projects, functions or processes within a department. These positions may recommend strategy and provide professional support to Directors and may have the authority to act on the Director's behalf. Assistant Directors typically supervise other staff but do not generally control the allocation of fiscal or human resources.
This full-time professional position is responsible for direct supervision and evaluation of a diverse professional financial aid advising staff and student employees, and organizes, coordinates, and supervises the day-to-day operation and activities and work assignments of the advising staff and student employees within an environment committed to customer service excellence. This position will assist the Associate Director in leading, directing, and managing student-facing operations and in the planning and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures that govern work conducted within the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office. This position will be responsible for evaluating office advising and processing operations and will be responsible for providing feedback and participating in strategic discussions which lead to changes that improve processing efficiency and services to students. The Assistant Director will collaborate cross-departmentally to develop retention strategies for the University of Colorado Denver as well as partner with the Office of Admissions to allow Advisors and Representatives to collaborate in outreach strategies.
In addition, this position works alongside the Associate Director to ensure staff are receiving on-going training and professional development, and will have responsibilities for reviewing and monitoring the work of staff to ensure compliance and accuracy with all state and federal policies and regulations.
Salary and Benefits:
The the hiring range for this position has been established at $ 50,156 to $55,000 and is commensurate with skills and experience.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation

- A bachelor's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- The position requires extensive, diverse and progressively responsible experience at the management level, including direct responsibility for supervision of professional staff, and interpreting and understanding of Federal and State financial aid regulations.
Substitution: A master's degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, or a directly related field from an accredited institution may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
- Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Banner or comparable student information system.
