Responsibilities

This position provides accounting/fiscal support and services on state and federal contracts and grants within Sponsored Research Administration (SRA), which manages $200 million in research expenditures annually for the University. The position is responsible for evaluation of subcontract expenditures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, University policies and terms of the award; implementing the risk assessment and financial monitoring for subrecipients; reviewing and analyzing audit reports and financial statements for subrecipients; and assisting department personnel in resolving specific fiscal and accounting problems. Reviews auxiliary charges for compliance with applicable federal regulations and contract/grant terms and conditions, serving as the liaison with the Budget Office and Controller’s Office on auxiliary initiatives and efforts, and conducting training presentations to departments. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting SRA with responding to state and federal audit requests.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or equivalent software.
Knowledge of accounting systems and practices.
Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving accounting and data problems.
Experience compiling, reviewing, and reconciling data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Ability to prioritize and multitask in a team-oriented environment; perform accurately in a detail oriented environment; learn quickly; and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business management and two years of accounting experience. Experience working with contracts and grants. Experience with Microsoft Access and using PeopleSoft/Oracle.

Anticipated Salary Range

Anticipated salary range is $40,000 - $45,000.

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Soft Money Funded Position

This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.

Schedule

If not otherwise specified, schedule is M-F, 8-5.
