Reporting to the Senior Director of Purchasing, the Manager of Supplier Diversity is responsible for directing, managing, and coordinating activities and operations in support of university contracting opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and Small Business Enterprises (SBEs). The Manager will work in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) to develop and implement strategic plans to increase supplier diversity. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least four years procurement or directly related experience is required. A demonstrated experience of successfully cultivating and maintaining strong connections with SBEs, DBEs or WMBEs. Demonstrated contract negotiation experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

* Demonstrated ability to maintain close, effective and cooperative relationships with professional associations and special interest business associations.

* Proven track record of managing vendor relationships.

* Working knowledge of supplier diversity programs, supplier contracting practices, and governmental regulations pertaining to diversity suppliers.

* Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage strategic initiatives.

* Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts.

* Knowledge of contract negotiations best practices.

* Demonstrated aptitude to think creatively and to identify new ways to approach old problems.

* Proven ability to engage, develop, and maintain SBE, DBE, and/or WMBE relationships and connections.

* Proven verbal, written, and oral communication skills.

* Demonstrated proficient with MS Office, Excel, and Word.
